Shabbat Speaker April 30th

Congregation Beth Shalom invites everyone to a Shabbat Service, Friday, April 30th at 7:30.

Following the service during the Oneg, Erica DeLeon, Executive Director of the Mary J. Treglia Community House will speak on diversity in the Siouxland community. Ms. DeLeon will focus on current immigration issues, both locally and on the national level. A question and answer period will follow.

1st Sioux City Jewish Film Festival

The 1st Sioux City Jewish Film Festival will be held on Sunday, May 16th and Thursday, May 20th at the Betty Strong Encounter Center.


"Sixty Six", a Paul Weiland family comedy, will be shown at 1:30 pm Sunday May 16th. Based on a true-life story, "Sixty Six" will take the audience to England in the summer of 1966 as events unfold for the biggest day in the life of 12-year old Bern's life: his bar mitzvah.


"Lemon Tree", Israel and Palestine - a conflict of cultures, will be shown at 7:30 pm Thursday, May 20th. An award winning Israeli film, Lemon Tree tells the story of two families who live on the green line border between Israel and the West Bank.

Yom Ha'Atzmaut & Tolerance Week Activities

Celebrate Shabbat and Yom Ha'Atmaut at Congregation Beth Shalom on Friday, April 16th at 7:30 pm. Rabbi Greene will be joined by musicians from the Sioux City Symphony. An Israeli Oneg will follow.


The award winning film, "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler," will be shown at the Orpheum theater on Tuesday, April 13th at 8 pm. The showing is free and open to the public.


Congregation Beth Shalom will host a "Lunch and Learn" on Wednesday, April 14th from 12:00 - 1:00. Renata Zajdman, one of the people saved by the Polish network, will share her story. The event is free, but reservations are needed for the lunch. Please call 712-255-1990,

Yom HaShoah

Congregation Beth Shalom Holocaust Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 11th at 7:00 pm.

We come together to light the Holocaust candles: to remember those whom we know and those whose very names are lost.
